DEMONSTRATIVE SPEECH OUTLINE 2#

Assalamualaikum... today, I'll be editing my demonstrative speech outline..

INTRODUCTION

A. In the rhythm of the needles, there is music for the soul. For those who are creative and love to create beautiful things to benefit others, knitting is something for you.

B. People may say that knitting is an activity for grandmothers who have nothing else to do, but i can prove them wrong. Knitting can actually soothe a troubled mind. with every twist and stitch, it helps calm down your nerves. A ball of yarn is a lot cheaper than therapy sessions.

C. Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi first described this phenomenon as flow: a few moments in time when you are so completely absorbed by an activity that nothing else seems to matter. Flow, Csikszentmihalyi says, is the secret to happiness -- a statement he supports with decades of research. A statement from a psychologist has proven that knitting a sort of personal therapy. When someone starts creating, the existence outside that activity becomes "temporarily suspended". It is the same as in the state of meditation, it reduces stress and fight inflammation.

D. Making a scarf uses basic techniques in knitting and is also easiest knitting item to create for beginners starting with cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch and lastly, cast off.

now you know how interesting knitting can be, grab your knitting needles and and a ball of yarn, and..... LET'S START KNITTING!!

BODY
First and foremost.. prepare....
  • A pair of knitting needles (4 1/2 mm >)
  • A ball of yarn (whichever colour you prefer)
TECHNIQUES TO MASTER
Part 1(CAST ON)
  • cast on a string of yarn onto one needle (at least 24 stitches)
  • if you are left handed cast on the right hand side
  • if you are right handed cast o the left hand side
This is to form one end of the scarf

Part 2(KNIT STITCH)
  • take one stitch from the twelve cast on; using the second needle
  •  insert the tip of the needle up and behind the stitch
  • wrap the working yarn clockwise (left-handed) or anti-clockwise (right-handed)
  • pull the strand out and lift the stitch off the previous needle
  • continue these steps with the rest of the remaining stitches
Part 3 (PURL STITCH)
  • take one stitch from the twelve knitted stitches; using the freed needle
  • insert the tip of the needle, tip facing bottom and front of the stitch
  • wrap the working yarn the anti-clockwise (on the left side) or clockwise (on the right side)
  • pull the strand out and lift the stitch of the previous needle
  • continue these steps with the rest of the remaining stitches

TO MAKE A SCARF
  1. start by cast on 24 stitches
  2. knit stitch for 5 rows
  3. on a row; purl 4 knit stitch and 4 purl stitch
  4. second row flip the needle and do 4 knit stitch and 4 purl stitch
  5. finish scarf by cast off
CONCLUSION

A. Knitting is as simple as that. Though it may seem difficult and time consuming at first, but once you master these techniques in knitting a scarf, the possibility for your creativity to expand is endless.

B. To put it simply, all you need to do when knitting a scarf is cast on, knit stitch for the first five rows.  After that, knit for stitches and 4 purl stitches. Lastly, finish it off with a cast off.

C. Knitting is creativity, and creativity helps soothe the mind. So don't think it is a granny thing. Anyone can knit if they try.

D. You know that what you need to do is possible to do, even though difficult, and sense of time disappears. You forget yourself. You feel part of something larger.

with that, I END MY DEMONSTRATIVE SPEECH, THANK YOU ~

DEMONSTRATIVE SPEECH OUTLINE

Assalamualaikum

This time around I will be writing an outline for my demonstrative speech..
after doing all the brainstorming and pouring out ideas of what and what not to do.. I have finally made a decision on what it is that I would like to demonstrate.
KNITTING A SCARF

General Purpose : To teach and demonstrate knitting
Specific Purpose : To demonstrate the very basics of knitting such as knit stitch and purl stitch
Central Idea : Something handmade is better than bought. In this case, a scarf

First and foremost.. prepare....
  • A pair of knitting needles (4 1/2 mm >)
  • A ball of yarn (whichever colour you prefer

  5. finish scarf by cast off
These are the very basics of knitting.. our mothers have mastered these skills long ago.. they knit to make clothes.. they knit for decoration.. so why don't we master the skills ourselves too.. other than buying a scarf.. we can make one of our own.. handmade is better than bought..

GOOD LUCK!!

BRAINSTORM!!^^

Hey there readers.. we cross digital paths once more..^^

What i'll be writing tonight is closely regarded to this week's entry.. that is.. to brainstorm topics for the demonstrative that i'll be doing soon..

To further elaborate on my interests might not be necessary.. since there are already so many talented artists in class.. which means.. they might want to demonstrate their talents during the speech.. and.. i might not be able to demonstrate on how it is that i play the french horn.. because bringing it is far from possible..

To put it frankly.. i'll have to start from scratch and start producing new ideas..^^

The first idea that came to my mind is.. to demonstrate.. THE BASICS OF BASKETBALL.. not everyone knows this because basketball isn't that popular here in Malaysia.. this is one thing that i forgot to mention in the previous entry.. i also play basketball.. it's one of the sports that i enjoy playing.. so i may know a one or two basic techniques or skills that one may find helpful.. if they want to try playing.. but.. i'm not really sure about this one.. would demonstrating basics be enough to attract peoples' attention?? how will i know whether they like basketball or not??

I'll think about that one..^^

The second idea that came to mind is.. THE RIGHT WAY TO BATHE YOUR CAT.. hehe.. this is one idea i really really really like.. no joke.. i am an extreme cat lover.. anything about cats makes me crazy.. aren't they just adorable, beautiful, irresistible balls of fur.. i could hug and play with them all day long if given the chance.. those big round eyes.. tiny feet.. fluffy fur.. i love them all..^^.. back to the topic.. hehe.. many people own cats.. and i truly believe.. that each and every one of these cat owners have trouble bathing their feline friends.. there is no denying that cats dislike water - but truthfully.. some cats love water.. like the well-known, elegant, Turkish Van.. compared to their cousins.. Turkish Vans have smaller ears than Turkish Angoras.. so.. don't get them mixed up.. know what breed your cat is.. it's a must!! back to the topic once more.. if i do demonstrate the proper way to bathe a cat.. it may be helpful to some cat owners.. to some might not be.. in the end.. whether the kitty will squirm or or not.. it depends on that kitty cat.. hehe.. cats are cats.. and cat owners love them just as they are.. right?^^

as you can see.. the pic above is the Turkish Van.. while the bottom is the Turkish Angora..
aren't they just adorable!!!^^

That is all for this week's entry.. i really hope i'll be able to choose between these two ideas.. if any of you readers have any suggestions on which it is that i should choose.. do tell.. i need help.. please..^^

My Interests...

We meet again readers..

Today I've been given quite an interesting topic, regarding my own interests.. Which I will brainstorm and choose to be used for the upcoming demonstrative speech.. My writing may not be as cool as any other person.. I just hope that you'll get a clear picture of the things that I really like..

Playing Musical Instruments

I love playing musical instruments, especially the French Horn. I can't play any percussion or string instruments since I have never had any experience playing any of them. I first started of playing the trumpet, but then, my instructor told me that I had small lips so I was better off playing the french horn instead. the french horn that i play has four fingerings, since mine is the double horn. So it plays in both F and Bb scales. To play this twisty instrument, you must first learn to buzz.. it may seem complex.. but that's what the french horn is like..

Drawing Pictures and Painting

I have an interest in drawing pictures and painting too.. the way I draw any picture depends on my mood.. once.. I was really bored.. and my mind was blank.. so I stated scribbling and shading like any other person would if they got bored.. but then..the scribble turned out to be a face.. when I properly draw.. I prefer sketching.. either trees or animal or humans.. I can draw anime for any anime fans.. when it comes to painting.. I like to use either water colour or acrylic paint.. I have an easel at home where I do all my paintings.. my parents gave me the easel on my ninth birthday.. because I have been interested in drawings and paintings at such a very young age..

The first is one of my recent unfinished painting

The second picture is a sculpture I made

The third is just a sketch I did at night

two additional paintings that i have done..

SPEECH : MY UNDERSTANDING

1. Speech,  according to my point of view, is a strong word. Doing it requires both confidence and bravery. Giving a speech itself is the act of someone bravely conveying and expressing their feelings and ideas, either verbally or written down. Powerful people of the world are the ones who can influence and move the hearts of those around them through words. thus, giving speeches are not for the faint hearted.

2. Demonstrative speech, to me, is a speech that a person gives with the intent to demonstrate a process to their listeners. The person explains the process both verbally as well as non-verbally. Informative speech is a speech that a person gives to share either their ideas or share any knowledge they have to their listeners.

3. People who usually give speeches are either leaders, politicians, educators, and students. There are a lot more, but these are the ones that are most prominent. Leaders and politicians give speeches to influence the people in order to make known their visions and targets for the country. However, it may both be good or bad, depending on ones purpose. Educators such as teachers, tutors and lecturers, give speeches in order to pass down the knowledge that they have to educate students. Students give speeches, normally during school ceremonies and in class.

4. Some speeches are more powerful and influential than others, in my opinion, based on a number of reasons. A more powerful and interesting speech is a speech that can touch the hearts of people. That rests on the ability and creativity of the speaker. It requires good hand gestures and body language. A speech given about something new will normally last longer and capture the interest of listeners as compared to the ones already known.

5. Honestly, I believe that I do have the ability to give an influential and impactful speech. Not that i can do that now. With enough practice and training, especially, through the listening and speaking course. I'm sure I'll be able to give a speech that will give an impact on others.

INTRODUCTION

Assalamualaikum and hi. I'm Nurul Syafiqah Aqilah Binti Hasnizam. You can call me Syafiqah or Aqilah. Either way is the same, as long as i know it's my name.

What is there to know about me? I've come a long way, from Perlis to study here in Malacca. This is the first time in my eighteen years of living that I am this far from my family. Though I study in a boarding school, it's only a ten minutes drive from my home, since the school is in Perlis too. Now, it's no longer a few minutes drive but an eight hour trip by car from home. As expected, I'm still homesick, even though it has already been a week here in UiTM Alor Gajah. Born on the nineteenth day, in the month of April, I am the eldest of my four siblings yet, I am still a bit childish myself.

My background is just as ordinary as any other person you readers may know. But, to me, it isn't. There, lies a memorable experience that I'll never intend to forget for as long as I live. I was born in Malaysia but grew up overseas, in a country that i now want to further my studies in. Simply saying, my number one goal as a TESL student is to study in the UK. I grew up there for almost five years. Most of you may not know of this place, but I spent most of my childhood days in a small town named Cobridge in Stoke-on-Trent. It has nothing to do with Stoke City, just so you know.

little me singing Christmas carols with my classmates

I have learned a lot there back then. My parents sent me to two primary schools. First I had to go to North Primary School, a school built since the year 1867, which later then became a public library. Because of the changes needed to be made to the school, all the students, including myself, were transferred to a new school, Forest Park Primary School. The learning experience there is just wonders. However, my vocab may not be as great compared to others and I may not speak as much as anyone else in class, but that is me, I prefer not to talk much, unless I am required to. Plus, to my own surprise, I can still speak using the British accent. I thought I had lost it after all these years being here in Malaysia.

My hobby or talent, for those of you interested to know. I can sketch, paint(only with water colour), play musical instruments(mostly brass instruments; the only wind I can play is the saxophone), and especially doing housework. As you can see, my hobbies and talents comprises of the arts relating to me being left-handed. Somehow, it's nothing to be proud of. the only, thing that could make me proud of my own self is becoming an excellent and acing in every test I take. Frankly, becoming a top scorer.

By the end of this semester, I hope to become a well-trained and developed student. This may seem cliche, but my goals are set, and I only wish to be outstanding in all that I do. I want to build my self-confidence so that I don't always have to feel depressed and low, seeing those who are better than I am. Honestly, I do look up to them, but, as a human, being competitive is a must. I'll do everything I can now, to correct any flaws i have, so that I can jump a few steps closer to my goal. The UK. Is all that see now.

WHAT YOU ARE IS WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN; WHAT YOU WILL BE IS WHAT YOU DO NOW
